Bio.

​

Kate Gane is an accomplished South-West Victoria artist who has shown her work in a number group and solo exhibitions including Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, Sherwood Gallery, Deakin University, Abbotsford Convent, Toei Studios, Kyoto, Japan, and Warrnambool Art Gallery, where she presented a series of highly successful, sold out performances as part of her 2017 installation, ‘Bodies of Conflict’.

In 2018, Kate was invited to present ‘Bottled Water Exports’ a work developed with Finnish artist Meri Nikula, for Art Ii Biennial ‘States of Matter’ in Finland.

​

In 1998, Kate’s experimental all-girl band Tukan Sam was ‘unearthed’ by radio station Triple J, which led to the band producing an independent album Little Miss and video clip for their song Let's Swing. Little Miss was featured on radio ABC National and Regional, Triple J, RRR and PBS.

Kate’s research and practice is deeply engaged in communion with place, and explores embodied mystical experience, phenomenology and transcendence. She is interested in paradigm shifting work that fosters healing and awareness through relationship and connection.

Gane holds a Diploma of Digital Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy, Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) from Deakin University and a Master of Transnational Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne University.
